How To Integrate Splash Events With Pardot Form Handlers

Tim Alexander • Jul 06, 2020

Whenever you're running an event, the most critical information you should be sending to your marketing automation platform is who's registered, and who's actually shown up. If your marketing automation is handed with Salesforce Pardot, then the best way to connect that data using Pardot Form Handlers.

In this walk through, we'll show you how to send RSVPs and Check-Ins from Splash to Pardot.

Creating A Pardot Form Hander

Starting off in Pardot, go to Marketing > Forms > Form Handlers > Add Form Handler.

You'll need to give the Form Handler a name, and select a Folder and Campaign to associate with it.

Keep in mind that you can add automation by using Completion Actions. This is one of the most beneficial aspects of Form Handers, and would be used for things like adding guests to a list, or adjusting Prospect Scores.

Now, it is time to configure the fields you'll be sending to this Form Handler. The email field is required by default but other than that, you have absolute control over what information is required or not. I recommend including at least 'First Name' and 'Last Name', but you can have as many or as few fields as you want.

Click on
Add New Field and fill the External Field Name, Prospect Field, and Data Format fields.

Please keep in mind that the external field name will be case sensitive!

Once you have added all your fields, you will be able to complete this part of the process by clicking on
Create Form Handler

Once that is all done, you will get a summary from the form handler you just created, including an
Endpoint URL both in HTTP and HTTPS format.

Configuring The Splash's Native Pardot Form Handler Connector

Head into Splash, and go to your Event > Settings > Integrations > New Integration > Pardot Form

You should see a new form with the first field being
Form Handler URL. As you probably guessed, this is where you should paste the link you copied earlier.

After doing so, make sure to give the integration a name you will remember, select a trigger, and the action you want to complete once the form is completed.

In most cases, you will be selecting the
Attendee trigger and an RSVP action, which will trigger this integration when the attendee sets a status.

At this point, it is a matter of adding field mappings by clicking on
Add a field under the Field Mappings section.

This step is connecting the fields previously created in Pardot to the fields in Splash – so that the new Pardot form will make your life a lot easier.

Select the correct category under
Splash Object and Splash Field, and then make sure to add the remote field name you added in Pardot.

Remember – this remote field is case sensitive!

One the mapping is complete, you just need to click on
save and then turn the integration on by clicking on the switch on the top right corner.

Connection Made!

From now on, any guest who triggered the action you selected for the integration will have their information sent to Pardot. You can use these same tools to confirm RSVPs, Check-ins, cancellations, etc. Remember that you can further customize the automation by taking advantage of Pardot’s Completion Actions, which means the limit to how these tools are used is your imagination!
